Resistance

The Devil. The Serpent. Satan. Lucifer. The Morning Star. He is known by many names, and he has been resisting God's will on earth since creation. We see him in Eden, tempting Adam and Eve with the fruit. He deceived Ananias and Saphira in the early days of the Church. His deception and lies led the Pharisees to bring Jesus before Pilate. He tempted Jesus in the wilderness.

His resistance has always corrupted and continues to fight against God's children. I had a professor in seminary that told me, "He doesn't want you on the sidelines, He doesn't want you taking a knee or tapping out. He wants you out of the fight. He wants you unable to resist. He wants you on his side or dead." My professor was right. Satan acts in deceitful ways. He turns brother against brother. He tells us that what is right is wrong, and what is wrong is right. But, more than that, he works against the efforts of believers to share the Gospel with the lost. He tells the lost that things that harm them are good for them. And he works to discredit and obstruct any who act against him.

Satan is a crafty one. And he is working against us in San Antonio. We have seen him act in many ways. He has upped his assault as we near a stability in our support. In the last 2 weeks, Connor's bike was stolen from our garage, Laura's car has failed (transmission, repair would cost more than the value of the car), we have seen funding delays from major partners, and we have been unable to make necessary medical appointments due to scheduling and financial issues.

And we recognize that Satan is acting. As my professor once told me, he doesn't want us on the sidelines or taking a knee, he wants us unable to fight back. He wants us to be out of the fight with no way to resist him.

But we know how it ends, as does he. We know that he loses and Christ is victorious. We know Christ has already defeated him, yet he has not yet finalized the defeat, and Satan searches for a way to stop what he knows is coming. Pray with us as we continue moving forward with the vision God has given us, planting the Church @ The Hub in San Antonio.
